Registration Regulation update

Significant changes to the College’s Registration Regulation are on the horizon––changes that won’t just affect new applicants to the College.

The Registration Regulation sets out the requirements for entry to practice, ongoing membership and reinstatement for all College members. While most of the changes will apply to applicants and former members who would like to return to nursing practice, some will affect current members, as well.

For example, under the new regulation the Retired Class will be replaced by the Non-Practising Class, which will permit anyone, regardless of age, to remain a member of the College in a non-practising capacity. New information for ongoing evidence of practice to meet the new requirements will be requested of members during the mandatory annual payment process.

Council approved amendments to the Registration Regulation in late 2010 after reviewing member and stakeholder feedback on proposed changes. Once the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care approves the amended regulation, the College will inform all members and applicants of the changes through its website, The Standard, Quality Practice and other channels.
