Committee Member Appointment
Eligibility Criteria

(Reference – Article 54.1 of the General By-Law)


To be eligible for appointment as a statutory committee member, a member:

  • Must complete the application form and submit it on or before the deadline (March 31, 2009);
  • Must hold a general or extended class certificate of registration that is not subject to a term, condition or limitation;
  • Must not be in default of payment of any fees;
  • Must not have been referred to the Discipline or Fitness to Practise committees;
  • Must not have had his or her certificate revoked or suspended in the six years before the date of appointment for any reason other than non-payment of fees;
  • Must not have been the subject of any professional misconduct, incompetence or incapacity finding in the past three years;
  • Must not have been disqualified by the Council in the last three years;
  • May not have served as an elected/appointed committee member for the previous two consecutive terms;
  • May not have served as an elected Council member and elected/appointed committee member for the past three consecutive terms;
  • May not be an employee of the College;
  • May not be a candidate for election to Council;
  • May not be a serving Council member, unless his or her term of office will expire prior to the appointment; and
  • May not be a director, officer, employee or in a contractual relationship to provide services to any international, national or provincial association or organization whose members are predominately nurses or which represents nurses.
