Council Motions

December 6, 2006

  1. That the unaudited financial statements for the nine month period ended September 30, 2006 be accepted.
  2. That the 2007 Operating and Capital budgets be approved.
  3. That Council approve the proposed regulation regarding delegation for Ontario nurses, as it appears in Attachment 1 and including rewording of the sections pertaining to maintenance of records, for forwarding to the Ministry of Health and Long-Term for Cabinet approval.
  4. That the Practice Standard: Performance of Controlled Acts by Nurse Practitioners, as it appears in Attachment 1, be approved to come into effect on the enactment of the legislative and regulatory changes related to the Extended Class that were approved by Council in June and September 2006.
  5. That Council approve the following additions to Schedule 3 of Ontario Regulation 275/94, as amended to Ontario Regulation 433/04 under the Nursing Act, 1991 ("General Regulation), on the understanding that each addition shall be considered an amendment which has been approved by Council independent of the other amendments:

    Angiotensin II receptor blockers (for renewal only): Candesartan cilexetil (Atacand); Irbesartan (Avapro); Telmisartan (Micardis); Valsartan (Diovan)

    Angiotensin II receptor antagonists (for renewal only): Eprosartan mesylate (Teveten); Losartan Potassium (Cozaar)

    And that Council directs that the amendments be forwarded to the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care with a request that the Government take such action as shall be required to amend the General Regulation as well as such other Statutes and Regulations, if any, as may be required to allow Registered Nurses in the Extended Class to prescribe and administer the drugs referred to therein.

  6. That the Practical Nurse Program at Fanshawe College be approved for a 5 year term, until December 2011.
  7. That the draft terms of reference for the proposed Election and Appointments Committee, Attachment 1 to the briefing note, be approved.
  8. That the draft By-Law amendments related to the Election and Appointments Committee, as set out in Attachment 2 to the briefing note, be approved.
