Laboratory Tests that RN(EC)s May Order (October 2006)

In early 2006, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care recommended that the College's RN(EC) laboratory-test list mirror the list in the Laboratory and Specimen Collection Centre Licensing Act, R.R.O. 1990, Regulation 682, Appendix C.

To enhance public safety by making the College and Ministry lists consistent, the College has modified its RN(EC) lab-test list.

The list has been re-numbered, and some lab tests have been combined. For example, #73, complete blood count, now includes #76, platelet count; #77, RBC count; #79, WBC count; #80, hematocrit; and #81, hemoglobin. These tests were previously listed separately.

Please note that in the RN(EC) lab-test list below, clarifications from the College are inside square brackets, [College clarification].
