Nursing Education: RN

You must show evidence of a nursing education for the type of nursing (RN, RPN or NP) that you want to practise in Ontario.

Applicants meet this requirement by completing a nursing program approved by the College.

If you did not complete an approved nursing program, then we will look at your nursing education and nursing experience, if any, to determine if it meets the entry-to-practice education requirement.

Registered Nurses

1. Did you complete a nursing program?	NO	You are not eligible to apply as an RN.

2. Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an approved Ontario university program or an approved Canadian university program?	YES	Requirement Met
NO
3. Did you complete a nursing program designed to prepare you for practice as a registered nurse?	NO	You must show you completed a nursing program that prepared you to practise as a registered nurse. If not, your application will be reviewed by the College's Registration Committee.

4. Was your program approved, in the jurisdiction in which you completed it, as one that would allow you to practise as a registered nurse in that jurisdiction?	NO	You must show evidence your program was approved. If not, your application will be reviewed by the College's Registration Committee.

5. Has the College reviewed all your nursing education and determined that it is equivalent to that of a current graduate of an approved Ontario university baccalaureate nursing program?	YES	Requirement Met

6. Can you provide evidence of practice as an RN? Learn more	NO	Go to number 8.

7. Has the College reviewed all your nursing education and nursing practice information, and determined that you have the equivalent nursing knowledge, skill and judgement of a current graduate of an approved Ontario university baccalaureate nursing program?	YES	Requirement Met

8. You must complete the evaluation of your nursing knowledge, skill, and judgement at the Touchstone Institute. Then continue to number 9.
9. Has the College reviewed the results of your Touchstone Institute evaluation along with your nursing education and any nursing practice information you many have, and determined that you have the equivalent nursing knowledge, skill and judgement to that of a current graduate of an approved Ontario university baccalaureate nursing program?	YES	Requirement Met
NO
10. You will need to complete additional education to address competency gaps identified by the evaluation.
