When will psychotherapy become a controlled act?
The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care recently proposed changes that will allow the controlled act of psychotherapy to be implemented at the end of 2017.
The controlled act of psychotherapy does not include all psychotherapy practices – only the component considered to be the highest risk will comprise the controlled act. Read our FAQs to learn more about psychotherapy and the controlled act component.
The proposed changes to the Controlled Acts Regulation made under the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 (RHPA) have not yet been implemented. The College is awaiting proclamation of the controlled act and will share details once information becomes available.
