On the road to RN prescribing

On May 17, 2017, the Ontario government approved changes to the Nursing Act to permit RNs to prescribe medication according to a list, and to communicate a diagnosis for the purpose of prescribing medication.

Although the government has approved changes, RNs do not have the authority to perform either of these activities until the College makes regulations under the Nursing Act.

What’s happening with Practice Support?

In December 2016, we launched a pilot project to change the way we receive and respond to practice inquiries. We started receiving your practice questions through the online submission form and by email.


This change is part of a larger redesign of Practice Support services and programs. We will roll out the new plan later this year and into 2018.
