Working toward reforming Council governance

At Council's meeting on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, a task force of governance experts will present recommendations based on its review of Council governance.

With the goal of ensuring Council remains an effective leader in serving the public interest, they're looking at evidence and best practices that show how regulatory bodies across Canada and around the world are most effectively governed today. They’re reviewing areas such as:

  • the competencies and attributes that Council members require

  • Council size

  • the number of public and professional members

  • how members join the Council and committees

  • the leadership structure

Our August and September issues introduced you to this review. Keep reading The Standard for further updates.
