Council commits to governance principles

At its September meeting, Council agreed to adopt specific principles to guide it and future Councils in developing and maintaining structures and process that support good governance.

In our August issue, we introduced you to the work being done by the College’s Council and a task force of governance experts to ensure Council remains an effective leader in serving the public interest (read more here). The task force is looking at trends, evidence and best practices in how regulatory bodies are being most effectively governed today.

Council and the task force determined that a set of principles were needed to not only guide their review and recommendations, but to provide direction for how Council does its ongoing work.

Read the full set of principles.

What’s next?
Working with these principles as the foundation, Council will continue to identify any changes to how the College is governed.

Watch future issues of The Standard for updates on about the task force’s work.
