The Member admitted that she engaged in professional misconduct by: contravening a standard of practice of the profession or failing to meet the standards of practice of the profession by grabbing a client by the shoulders and/or blouse and shaking her; abusing the client physically when she grabbed the client and shook her; and engaging in conduct or performing an act, relevant to the practice of nursing that, having regard to all the circumstances, would reasonably be regarded by members of the profession as disgraceful, dishonourable and unprofessional.

The Member signed an undertaking to permanently resign as a member of the College and agreed not to reapply for membership with the College at any time in the future. In light of this undertaking, the College and the Member jointly sought an order requiring the Member to appear before the Panel to be reprimanded within three months of the date of the order.

The Panel accepted the Joint Submission on Order and concluded that the proposed penalty was reasonable and in the public interest.
