It has come to the attention of the College of Nurses of Ontario that there is misinformation circulating regarding fees for the Quality Assurance Program.

College By-Laws 9.01- 9.04 state the Quality Assurance Committee can choose to impose a $1,500 fee on a member who fails to comply or co-operate with the Quality Assurance Practice Assessment or  Re-assessment as outlined under clause 29 (1) (a) of the regulation governing the Quality Assurance Program. The Quality Assurance fees referenced in the By-Laws came into effect September 2009.  Members who are selected for Practice Assessment and comply with participating in this process are not affected by this fee. 

The Quality Assurance fees identified in the recent Proposed By-Law No. 2: Fees document distributed with the March 2012 edition of The Standard are not new and have been in effect since 2009.
