CNO selects partner to administer new Nursing Education Program Approval process

CNO has selected the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN) as its partner to help implement the new standardized Nursing Education Program Approval process.

In the new process, CASN will coordinate program logistics with the schools, collect data, review documentation, conduct interviews and complete assessment reports for each of the programs. Using the reports, CNO will make program approval recommendations to its Council, and Council will decide which programs are approved.

This program approval process will be used to approve Nurse Practitioner (NP) programs in 2018; Practical Nurse Diploma programs (PN) and Baccalaureate Nursing programs (RN) will follow in 2019.
