It’s official – only one source for police criminal record checks
As of November 15, 2018, CNO stopped accepting paper copies of police criminal record checks obtained from a variety of vendors. All police criminal record checks must be submitted to CNO through Sterling Talent Solutions' myBackCheck app.
This new online process is part of the CNO’s ongoing initiative to upgrade its technology and improve its business processes.
For more information, please read the police criminal record check page.
The police criminal records check is a requirement for anyone applying to become a nurse in Ontario or to reinstate their registration. Formerly, applicants had to obtain them through their local police department or an accredited fingerprinting company – this process typically took six to eight weeks, or longer. The new process will only take two to three days.
