The College's Council and committees are made up of registered nurses (RNs), registered practical nurses (RPNs), and government-appointed public members. Nurses on Council are nominated and elected by their peers to serve a three-year term of office.

Council members fall into two categories: nurse and public member. Nurses (RNs and RPNs) are elected by their peers through regional elections for the purpose of carrying out the self-regulatory function.
