Proposed revisions to Bylaws – Your Opportunity to RespondDeadline for response: November 30thCouncil is proposing to amend the College Bylaws to include provisions that will support the integrity of the College’s data without incurring additional costs to the vast majority of members who complete their Annual Membership Renewal (AMR) forms properly. The information collected on the College’s AMR form is a vital source of human resource data for the nursing profession and government1 . For that reason, all members are required to complete the AMR form properly each year. The proposed amendments include revisions to Article 44.2 of the General Bylaw to identify specifically that members must fully complete the AMR form and return it to the College by December 31st. Members who do not meet this requirement will receive a written notice and a $25 fee ($23.36 + GST) will be charged. The Fees Bylaw will be amended to include this fee in this circumstance. The fee is waived if the completed form is returned before February 1st. Members who send in an incomplete AMR form and the annual fee before December 31st will not be charged the late fee. They will, however, receive written notice from the Executive Director and be charged the $25 fee if the properly completed form is not returned to CNO before February 1st. Members who have not returned the properly completed AMR form before February 1st and not paid the $25 fee may be subject to suspension for non-payment of fees. It is also proposed that Article 44 of the General Bylaw regarding the Annual Payment Card (APC) be amended to allow the College to not send an APC to anyone who has not paid any fee. See below for the specific bylaw changes, or here to see the current bylaw. Council will be making a final decision on these proposed changes in December. Members’ feedback will be reported to Council at that time. Please forward comments regarding the proposed changes by November 30, 2005 to: Jenna Hofbauer, Council Affairs Coordinator Proposed Bylaw Amendments
