Web Update

Relaunched in February to keep up with the College’s new look, the CNO website (www.cno.org) now features the new logo, a refreshing new colour scheme and eye-catching photos.

Its newest resources include a section that will provide up-to-date corrections and clarifications of articles that have appeared in CNO publications. See the Publications and Resources section for more information.

The new edition of the Compendium of Standards is also available in this section. Users can download some or all of the new Compendium documents free. Members can also order the entire Compendium, with binder and dividers, for $75 plus $5 shipping and handling.

Coming soon

The Web’s content continues to grow to meet the needs of members. Coming soon is a question-and-answer section based on the popular You Asked Us column in this magazine. Also watch for a new In Praise of Nurses section that will feature letters from the public that were not published in The Standard due to space constraints.

Temporary Registration Gets Streamlined

The College of Nurses has streamlined and shortened the temporary registration process to 10 business days from six weeks, making it easier and faster for employers and nursing students to obtain temporary registration.

The shorter process will affect 80 percent of the employers who contact CNO about temporary registration. Employers working in public hospitals and nursing homes included under the Nursing Homes Act, Schedule 1 of the Regulated Health Professions Act, or within Boards of Education will benefit from the new service. The streamlined process allows for all the forms and the fee to be returned in one step, rather then two. A new temporary registration package provides a step-by-step guide to help employers and applicants complete the forms. The fee, including membership, is $225.

Temporary Class registration is a short-term measure that allows Ontario nursing school graduates to practise nursing while they wait to write the exam. Some conditions apply. For more information or to apply for temporary registration visit the CNO website.
