KTF workgroup shares “eureka moments”

In June, participants in the Knowledge Translation Fellowship (KTF) pilot project met at the College to report on how their projects are progressing. KTF is a partnership initiative between College staff and nurse leaders working in a variety of health care facilities. Together, the participants are conducting projects that integrate the College’s practice standards into their workplaces.

During the day-long meeting, the participants shared their “eureka” moments. These moments revealed an increased understanding of both practice realities and the challenges of embedding College standards into practice. (For more information on the launch of the project and the six practice settings involved, see the June 2005 issue of The Standard.)

Important components of the KTF evaluation, which is being conducted in collaboration with Deborah Tregunno, RN, PhD, of York University’s School of Nursing, include sharing insights, key learnings and reflections. The evaluation examines the sustainability of the projects, the ability of CNO to integrate standards into workplace settings and participant satisfaction with this form of practice consultation. The evaluation process will include individual interviews and focus groups with KTF participants as well as voluntary participation of nursing staff in the practice settings.

The December issue of The Standard will profile several KTF projects. The workgroup anticipates being able to share the full results in the March 2006 issue.
