Re-launch of CNO online services - FAQs for applicants
We’re pleased to report that the public register Find a Nurse, the nurse portal Maintain your Membership and the applicant portal are now live and available on CNO.org.

I am waiting for an update on my application. Will I receive it soon?
You can now view the status of your application through the online portal on Maintain Your Membership. Check the Message Centre in your online account for updates about the status of your application and next steps.
Can I access the Applicant Portal to check on the status of my application?
Yes. The applicant portal is now available.
I sent in some documents for my application. Have you received them?
Check your online account in the applicant portal to see the status of your application. If it doesn’t show that your documents have been processed, please contact our Customer Service Centre about the status of your documents.
I am concerned about timelines and my application. Is this closure going to impact my application?
We acknowledge your concerns with the expiry of your requirements and will consider any impact that the unforeseen closure had on your application. If you have a specific concern, please send it to CNO in writing at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Did the Registration Committee review applications on September 24?
No. The Registration Committee meeting scheduled for September 24, 2020 will be rescheduled to a new date. You will be notified in writing through the applicant portal of the new date.
I have not received my NNAS results/Advisory report. When will I receive it?
Please contact NNAS at 1 855 977-1898. They can provide you with information about your Advisory report.
I have my NNAS result/Advisory report. Can I apply to the CNO?
Yes, you can now apply. Log in to Maintain Your Membership to create your online account and submit your application and fees.
My application was previously reviewed by the Registration Committee and I haven’t received my decision yet. Will I receive it soon?
We will send you the Registration Committee’s decision.
Can I register for the CPNRE?
The next CPNRE exam will take place Nov. 9 to Nov. 29, 2020. The deadline to apply to this exam window is Nov. 17, 2020.
If you applied for the September exam window but did not receive notification from CNO that we sent your information to the exam provider, you will need to wait to register for the November window. Once CNO re-opens, we will be able to send your information to the exam provider in October and you will then be able to schedule your exam for the November exam window.
Can I register for the NCLEX?
We have now resumed sending information to the exam providers and you can schedule your exam.
I haven't heard back on my exam accommodation request. When can I expect to hear back?
As we resume normal operations, we are reviewing all Accommodations requests that were outstanding at the time of the closure. We will contact you if we require further information.
I wrote the NCLEX and am awaiting my results. How can I access them? Can you tell me how I did?
Once your NCLEX-RN result is available, it will be emailed to you. If you have not received the email; please check your spam folder.
Your exam result will not be available by phone, please do not call CNO to get your result.
I passed my Jurisprudence exam. Did you get the results?
As we resume operations, we will be receiving jurisprudence exam results. Your file will be updated once CNO receives your result. You will then be able to log in and check the status of your Jurisprudence requirement.
Can I write the Jurisprudence exam now?
The Jurisprudence exam is available from the examination provider. Please check our Jurisprudence FAQs.
Police record checks
Can I complete my police criminal record check?
Yes, you can complete your criminal record check. Submitting police criminal records checks to CNO is an online process. Please use the following link: https://pages.sterlingbackcheck.ca/landing-pages/c/cno/
Did you get my results from myBackCheck?
Now that online services are available, we will be updating your application with your results and you will be able to log in and check the status of your criminal record check.
Can I apply and pay for reinstatement?
Yes, you can. As we work to resume operations, we ask for your patience if you experience any delays in the application process and payment. If you are in the Non-Practising class and want to reinstate, please visit our Reinstatement page.
Did you get my reinstatement application forms?
