The Member was alleged to have engaged in professional misconduct by being found guilty of an offence (sexual assault) relevant to his suitability to practice.
The Member was not present or represented by legal counsel so the hearing proceeded in his absence.
The Panel found the Member guilty of the alleged misconduct.
The Panel ordered revocation of the Member’s certificate of registration.
Aggravating factors considered by the Panel included:
- the Member showed disrespect for the law and a colleague, which breached trust in the nursing profession; and
- the lack of participation in CNO’s process.
The Panel noted that the Member did not attend the hearing and therefore the Panel had no indication of whether the Member had taken responsibility for his actions.
