Re-launch of CNO online services: FAQs for members

The College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is pleased to report that the public register Find a Nurse, the nurse portal Maintain your Membership and the applicant portal are now live and available on CNO.org.

If you are a member of CNO and the below FAQs do not address your question, please call Customer Service at 416-928-0900 or toll free in Canada at 1 800 387-5526, or by email at cno@cnomail.org, for general information.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for your patience.

Frequently ask questions (FAQs) for members:

What information of mine is held on CNO systems?

We collect a range of general contact and profile information for your registration needs.  While much of the information we retain is publicly accessible on our register Find a Nurse, we do not make publicly accessible other information we retain, such as your email address.

With guidance from a third-party cyber-security firm, we are conducting a forensic investigation to determine whether personal information was affected as result of the incident that may require notification to individuals.

While the investigation is ongoing, we are recommending members take certain precautions and remain vigilant about risks associated with email addresses and passwords. Should we identify any additional risks to individuals, we will notify those affected directly.

Your email address In the wrong hands, email addresses can be used for phishing — an activity in which an unknown third-party may attempt to obtain sensitive information or data by disguising themselves as a trustworthy entity, typically through electronic communication. For this reason, we are asking you to remain vigilant as always about any email messages that request you to provide sensitive information or to click on links or attachments — even if they appear to come from the CNO or an individual you know or trust.
Your CNO.org password We also retain the password you use to access the CNO.org portal. Although we have no evidence to suggest that your password was compromised as a result of this incident, you may wish to log in to the portal and follow instructions to change your password out of an abundance of caution.

Am I at risk of fraud or identify theft?

Payments made to CNO by members and the financial information members may have provided are processed securely through a third-party vendor and not shared with or retained by CNO. We do not retain your credit card details nor your Social Insurance Number. For this reason, CNO has not identified a risk to members of financial, credit or identity fraud associated with that type of information.

Should we identify any additional risks to individuals, we will notify those affected directly.
