The Member was not present or represented by legal counsel at the liability hearing on December 19, 2023. A summary of the Discipline Committee’s findings on liability has been previously published. The penalty hearing on November 7, 2024 proceeded in the Member’s absence.
Discipline Committee’s Order
The Panel made an order that included the following:
- an oral reprimand;
- a 6-month suspension;
- terms, conditions and limitations, including:
- attending a minimum of 2 meetings with a Regulatory Expert;
- employer notification for 18 months; and
- no independent practice for 18 months.
The Panel concluded that the penalty proposed by the College was reasonable and in the public interest. The penalty promotes public confidence in the ability of the College to regulate nurses, and satisfies the penalty goals of specific and general deterrence, remediation and rehabilitation, and public protection.
