To become authorized to prescribe medications as an RN in General Class in Ontario, RNs must complete a CNO approved prescribing education program.
The following RN Prescribing programs are Council approved.
RNs have two education options available to become authorized to prescribe in Ontario. They can:
- graduate from a CNO-approved Ontario baccalaureate nursing program that offers prescribing as part of its curriculum, or
- complete a CNO-approved continuing education program.
Please contact the schools directly if you have any questions about their RN prescribing education program.
