This report includes highlights, data and trends from the past year, including changes to the overall nursing population, demographic shifts and changes in employment patterns. It provides a comprehensive picture of the trends in nursing health human resources in Ontario and allows CNO to identify the most significant patterns across several of our processes. The detailed data and methods are included in the appendices.

New Nurse Type Information Sheets Available Now
Based on the data and findings from the Nursing Statistics Report 2025, CNO has released a set of information sheets for each nurse type: Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses and Nurse Practitioners. These information sheets provide a high-level overview of key nursing statistics and showcase emerging and unique data trends for each of the nurse types.
Nursing Registration Exams Report
As part of the registration process, applicants must successfully complete a national registration examination. This report provides information about the number of Ontario-educated applicants who attempted the exams and the number that passed.
Evaluation Report: Supervised Practice Experience Partnership Program
This report examines the impact of the Supervised Practice Experience Partnership (SPEP) program with data from the first three years of the program (Jan. 1, 2022 – Jan. 1, 2025). The SPEP program evaluation offers a detailed analysis of the program’s impact on health human resources, the experience of key participant groups and the relationship between program participation and nursing practice concerns.
