Welcome to the College of Nurses’ guide to registration for Nurse Practitioners.
-
Only members of the College's Extended Class are permitted to call themselves “Nurse Practitioners” and practise as NPs within the province of Ontario.
-
The application process for NPs begins when an applicant contacts the College and requests the Nurse Practitioner Specialty Certificate Application Package.
-
During the application process, the College assesses all NP applicants to determine whether they meet the following registration requirements.
-
This section outlines the registration requirements for NPs already registered to practice in other Canadian jurisdictions. NPs must have a certificate of registration in one of the specialties (Primary Health Care, Adult or Paediatric) equivalent to the one for which they are applying in Ontario...
-
All applicants to the Extended Class must take the NP registration examination approved by Council for the requested NP specialty certificate.
-
When you have successfully met all registration requirements, you can complete your registration online and pay the applicable fee.
-
Everyone who writes an examination as part of their application to the College has the right to request accommodation.
